Nature unleashed its full wrath. The wind was blowing hard, the typhoon was so strong, and Alexander could barely hear the voice of his father with the strong winds and the loud shouts of the other passengers fearing for their lives.
Alexander continued struggling to swim in the dark ocean wearing the life jacket that he grabbed while his father was fitting his sobbing mother with another life jacket. Alexander saw his father comforting and pacifying his mom, she was so afraid and she didn't even know how to swim. Suddenly a hard object hit Alexander. Slowly his vision blurred. The last thing he saw from his half-closed eyes was the strong lights from an approaching ship.  Alexander lost consciousness and fainted in the ocean.

Chapter 2

"Hey young boy, wake up!" the shout of a beautiful young girl as she shook the unconscious body of Alexander at the beach front of a hidden island.
"Where am I, where's mom and dad...?" the soft question of Alexander who started waking up. While he was still lying on the sands, Alexander slowly saw the beautiful face of the young girl near him; he stopped talking and stared into the beautiful face in front of him. He was enthralled by the beauty of the ten year old young girl.
"Hey, are you okay, does your body hurt, huh?" the question of the young girl to Alexander.
"I still feel weak, but I'll be okay soon, my parents did you see them huh?" asked Alexander who was still lying on the

sand. Alexander looked intently into the beautiful girl; her hair was long reaching up to her shoulders. He struggled and sat up slowly on the white and fine sands. Once again, he looked at the young girl who woke him up. And he was surprised with what he saw. "You're a mermaid!"
"Don't be afraid, I'm not a bad mermaid, I'm just a kid just like you," the answer of the young girl.
Alexander calmed down instantly; he had seen so many stories about mermaids in his TV. "You're really a mermaid; this is the very first time that I have seen a real mermaid in my entire life."
"Yes, I'm a mermaid..." the soft answer of the young mermaid.
Alexander stood up and curiously watched the entire

body of the young mermaid in front of him.
"Wow, your pink tail looks magnificent, does the other mermaids around here wears that same tail huh?" the quick question of the amused Alexander.
"I'm alone, I know no other mermaids and the truth is I haven't even seen one myself, just me," her quick response.
"Huh, you haven't seen any other mermaids, don't you have parents huh?"
"I have, but my parents were both humans and not a merman nor a mermaid like me."

Suddenly, Alexander recalled everything that happened before he lost consciousness. He saw a huge ship approaching the water where he and his parents were trying to stay afloat. And he remembered a crew throwing a rope

towards his parents. He saw his dad catching the rope as he guided his sobbing mother. Alexander rejoiced knowing that both his parents and probably the other passengers of the sunken ship were safe
and alive.
"By the way, I'm Alexander, you?" his immediate question.
          "Me... I'm Ara."
"Now I know... when I fainted, I was drifted away from my parents and you saw me floating in the ocean. And when you saw me, you immediately saved me, right?" the statement of the amused Alexander.
"Yeah that's what happened," she said. "Does your body aches huh?" she asked.

“No, I feel fine right now. But I would feel much better

if you stay with me and take good care of me,” he added.
Amara looked intently on him assessing his condition. Feeling a bit self conscious at Amara staring at him intently, Alexander looked behind him,
turned around and looked at the trees all over the island. But when he looked back Amara was already gone.

Regretfully, Alexander just scratched his head. "I shouldn't have turned around. Now I lost her. Would that beautiful mermaid come back again? Ah... she saved me, and probably she can't bear not to see me again, she probably thinks I'm her responsibility now and she'd probably return with some food for me..." Alexander thought laughing slightly at his thoughts.
